Qanun Musician

Egyptian qanun player, music educator, and orchestra maestro. He serves as a Lecturer in the Arabic Music Department at the Faculty of Music Education, Helwan University, where he has taught since 2014, progressing from Teaching Assistant to Assistant Lecturer and later Lecturer. He holds a PhD and MA in Music Education, specializing in performance techniques and sight-reading development for qanun students. Elegimy has performed extensively across the Middle East, Asia, and Europe, appearing at major international festivals such as Sharq Taronalari in Uzbekistan, the AFC Asian Cup activities, and the FIFA World Cup events in Qatar. As a solo qanun One-Man Show artist, he has held long-term residencies at Four Seasons Cairo, Serry Beach Hurghada, and Babel Qatar during Ramadan seasons. He has also collaborated with numerous ensembles, national orchestras, and artists, and has led multiple university and governmental orchestras, including the Ministry of Youth and Sports Orchestra. His academic contributions include several published research papers on qanun performance techniques, and he is also skilled in music production software and plays the oud alongside the qanun.
